Documenting the daily routine of the fishermen of Lake Volta, Ghana. 2019.
After spreading out their nets the night before, the fishermen get to work again in the morning. Right before sunrise at around 5AM they head back out on the lake to collect their nets.
As lake Volta is an artificial lake, the net consistently gets stuck in the treetops of the left-over trees, so that the men have to dive into the water to free it from the woods to continue pulling it out. After seperating the fish from the mesh, they get sold immediately to keep the fish fresh. The local women are already awating the arrival of the fishing boats to pay them their price by its weight.
After that the men start into their days and repeat the whole process starting on the same evening.
